Another super whisky-geeky episode! This time around Jason visits with Vienna Barger and Susan Sigmon of Southern Distilling Company in Statesville, North Carolina. Vienna, co-owner of the distillery, schools us on the history of distilling in North Carolina (as well as the birth of bourbon in that fair state) and discusses what it means to be a contract distillery (as well as distilling their own products), and the TTB! If that weren't enough, Susan shares her insanely in-depth knowledge of grains, yeast, distilling (both in pot and column stills), and maturing whisky. Having given up that position to start a new whisky life with Atom Brands as their Head of Whisky (now, that's a job title, nu?), Sam finds himself with a bit of a challenge on his hands -- a challenge he's up to taking head on.
